Finance Structures

Finance Types Explained

Chattel Mortgage

You own the asset from day one. The lender takes a mortgage over it as security. Interest and depreciation may be tax deductible.

Finance Lease

The lender owns the asset during the term. You make fixed repayments and have the option to purchase at the end.

Hire Purchase

Similar to chattel mortgage but ownership transfers at the end of the term. Popular for businesses that want clear end-of-term ownership.

Operating Lease

A flexible lease where you use the asset for an agreed term without taking ownership. Payments are treated as an operating expense, and the asset is typically returned, upgraded or renewed at the end of the term. Ideal for equipment that depreciates quickly or needs regular replacement.

Low Doc Finance

A streamlined assessment option for businesses that have good trading activity but may not have full financials ready. Instead of tax returns or full financial statements, lenders assess alternative evidence such as bank statements, BAS, accountant declarations or turnover history. Ideal for established operators who want faster approvals without the paperwork of a full‑doc application.
